1. Our Commitment

The Hair Boutique by Felicity is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible website that allows customers of different abilities to access information, browse products, place orders, and communicate with us.

We want www.thehairboutiquebyfelicity.com to be usable by people with:

  • visual disabilities;
  • hearing disabilities;
  • physical or mobility disabilities;
  • speech disabilities;
  • cognitive or learning disabilities;
  • neurological conditions;
  • temporary impairments;
  • age-related accessibility needs; and
  • limited access to particular devices or internet connections.

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. We will continue to review and improve the website as our content, products, services, and technology change.

3. Ghanaian Legal Framework

This Accessibility Statement has been prepared with reference to the laws and principles of the Republic of Ghana, including:

  • Article 17 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, 1992, concerning equality and protection against discrimination;
  • Article 29 of the Constitution, concerning the rights and protection of persons with disabilities;
  • Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715);
  • Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772), as amended;
  • National Information Technology Agency Act, 2008 (Act 771);
  • Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843);
  • Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038);
  • Ghana’s obligations and commitments under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; and
  • other applicable Ghanaian enactments, regulations, and lawful regulatory directives.

Section 7 of the Persons with Disability Act requires a person who provides a service to the public to put in place the necessary facilities that make the service available and accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Electronic Transactions Act also recognizes the importance of ensuring that the special needs of vulnerable groups, communities, and persons with disabilities are considered in electronic services.

Nothing in this Statement limits a right or remedy available under Ghanaian law.

4. Accessibility Standard

We aim to improve the website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, Level AA, commonly known as WCAG 2.2 AA.

WCAG is an internationally recognized set of recommendations for making websites and digital content more:

  • perceivable;
  • operable;
  • understandable; and
  • robust.

Using WCAG as our technical target does not replace our obligations under Ghanaian law.

5. Current Conformance Status

The website is working toward conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

We have not yet completed a full independent accessibility audit. We therefore do not claim that every page, feature, document, or third-party integration is fully conformant.

Some content may be partially conformant or may still require improvement. We welcome reports from customers who encounter an accessibility barrier.

6. Accessibility Measures

When designing, developing, and updating the website, we aim to:

  • Use clear headings and logical page structure;
  • provide meaningful page titles;
  • Use readable text and suitable font sizes
  • maintain sufficient color contrast;
  • avoid relying on color alone to communicate important information;
  • Add alternative text to meaningful images;
  • identify decorative images appropriately;
  • Make links and buttons understandable;
  • provide visible keyboard focus;
  • support navigation without a mouse;
  • label forms and input fields;
  • provide clear error messages;
  • allow users to zoom text and page content;
  • avoid unnecessary flashing or rapidly moving content;
  • provide controls for sliders, animations, and moving content;
  • Use plain and understandable language where possible;
  • Ensure important legal and customer information is available as text;
  • Make checkout and payment instructions understandable;
  • Test important pages with accessibility tools;
  • consider screen-reader and keyboard users; and
  • Provide an alternative method of obtaining assistance.

7. Keyboard Navigation

We aim to make important website functions available using a keyboard, including:

  • navigation menus;
  • links;
  • product selection;
  • shopping-cart controls;
  • forms;
  • account functions;
  • cookie settings;
  • checkout controls; and
  • contact options.

Keyboard users should generally be able to navigate with keys such as

  • Tab;
  • Shift and Tab;
  • Enter;
  • Space;
  • arrow keys; and
  • Escape where appropriate.

If you encounter a feature that cannot be accessed without a mouse or touchscreen, please report it to us.

8. Screen Readers

We aim to structure the website so that commonly used screen readers and other assistive technologies can interpret:

  • headings;
  • links;
  • buttons;
  • form labels;
  • product names;
  • prices;
  • error messages;
  • shopping-cart information; and
  • important legal content.

Compatibility may vary depending on:

  • browser;
  • operating system;
  • screen-reader version;
  • device;
  • website plugin; and
  • third-party service.

If a screen reader does not communicate important information correctly, contact us and we will provide the information through an accessible alternative.

9. Alternative Text for Images

Because the website sells wigs and beauty products, photographs are important to customers’ purchasing decisions.

We aim to provide meaningful alternative text for product images, including information such as

  • wig style;
  • color;
  • texture;
  • approximate length;
  • curl or wave pattern; and
  • other important visible characteristics.

Alternative text cannot communicate every visual detail. Customers who need a fuller verbal description may contact us by telephone, WhatsApp, or email.

Decorative images that do not communicate meaningful information should be ignored by assistive technologies where technically possible.

10. Color, Contrast, and Text

We aim to:

  • maintain readable color contrast;
  • Use clear text against its background
  • avoid communicating essential information by color alone;
  • allow browser zoom without loss of important content;
  • avoid text that is unnecessarily small; and
  • Present important information in actual text rather than only inside images.

Some promotional artwork or third-party content may not yet meet our desired contrast level. Where necessary, equivalent information should be provided in nearby text or through another accessible format.

11. Videos and Audio

Where video or audio content is added, we aim to provide it where reasonably practicable:

  • captions;
  • transcripts;
  • meaningful titles;
  • descriptions of important visual content;
  • controls to pause or stop playback; and
  • alternatives for information communicated only through sound.

Older social media videos or third-party embedded content may not have complete captions or audio descriptions.

Customers may request a written summary of important business information contained in inaccessible media.

12. Forms and Checkout

We aim to make forms and checkout processes accessible by:

  • providing clear labels;
  • identifying required fields;
  • giving understandable instructions;
  • explaining input errors;
  • allowing customers to review information before submission;
  • making buttons distinguishable;
  • providing sufficient time where possible; and
  • avoiding unnecessary collection of information.

If you cannot complete an online form or checkout process because of an accessibility barrier, contact us and we will offer reasonable assistance or an alternative ordering method.

13. Alternative Ordering and Customer Assistance

Customers who cannot use the website independently may contact us to:

  • receive product information;
  • request a verbal product description;
  • check product availability;
  • place an order;
  • obtain payment instructions;
  • request delivery information;
  • book a beauty service;
  • receive a legal policy in plain text; or
  • Make a complaint.

Alternative assistance is available through:

Telephone/WhatsApp: +233 24 417 9402
Alternative telephone: +233 24 657 9971
Email: info@thehairboutiquebyfelicity.com

We will not knowingly charge a customer an additional service fee solely because the customer requires a reasonable accessible method of placing an order.

Normal product, delivery, and payment charges will still apply.

14. Accessibility of Product Information

We aim to make essential product information available in text, including:

  • product name;
  • price;
  • length;
  • color;
  • texture;
  • density;
  • lace or closure type;
  • product availability;
  • care requirements; and
  • return restrictions.

Customers should not be required to rely entirely on a photograph to understand important product characteristics.

If information is available only inside an image, customers may request the information in text or verbally.

15. Legal Documents

We aim to publish our legal and customer policies as accessible webpage text, including:

  • Privacy Policy;
  • Terms and Conditions;
  • Cookie Policy;
  • Shipping and Delivery Policy;
  • Returns, Exchanges and Refunds Policy;
  • Payment Policy;
  • Disclaimer; and
  • this Accessibility Statement.

Customers may request a policy in plain text or another reasonably accessible format.

16. Mobile Accessibility

We aim to make the website usable on common mobile devices.

Mobile accessibility measures may include:

  • responsive page layouts;
  • controls large enough to select;
  • readable text;
  • support for screen magnification;
  • limited need for horizontal scrolling;
  • clear forms; and
  • support for device accessibility settings.

Accessibility may vary between devices, browsers, and operating-system versions.

17. Slow Connections and Data Use

We recognize that some customers use slow or limited internet connections.

Where reasonably possible, we aim to:

  • optimise images;
  • avoid unnecessary large files;
  • provide important information as text;
  • allow customers to contact us through telephone or WhatsApp; and
  • Avoid requiring video content to complete a purchase.

Some high-quality product photographs may use more data because detailed images help customers assess hair products.

18. Third-Party Content and Services

The website may use third-party services, including:

  • payment gateways;
  • Mobile Money providers;
  • maps;
  • social media embeds;
  • WhatsApp;
  • Instagram;
  • TikTok;
  • delivery tracking;
  • videos;
  • website plugins; and
  • security tools.

We do not have complete control over the accessibility of independent third-party platforms.

We will take reasonable steps to choose accessible services and raise significant accessibility concerns with providers where appropriate. However, a third party’s platform may not fully meet WCAG or our accessibility objectives.

Where an essential third-party service presents a barrier, customers may contact us for a reasonable alternative where one is available.

19. Known or Potential Limitations

The following areas may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Some older images may have incomplete alternative text;
  • Some promotional graphics may contain text embedded in images
  • Some videos may not have complete captions or audio descriptions
  • Third-party payment pages may have accessibility limitations;
  • Social media content may not be fully accessible;
  • Some sliders, pop-ups, or plugin-generated controls may not work perfectly with every assistive technology
  • Some product images may require more detailed descriptions
  • Some color combinations may need further contrast improvement; and
  • Some downloadable documents may not be fully optimized for screen readers.

We are working to identify and improve these limitations.

20. Browser and Assistive-Technology Compatibility

The website is intended to work with current versions of common browsers and operating systems.

Accessibility may be reduced when using:

  • an outdated browser;
  • an unsupported operating system;
  • disabled JavaScript where a feature requires it;
  • an obsolete assistive-technology version; or
  • an unusual browser and plugin combination.

Customers should not be forced to purchase a particular assistive technology solely to access our basic services. Where a compatibility problem arises, we will try to provide a reasonable alternative.

21. Accessibility Testing

Accessibility may be assessed through a combination of:

  • automated accessibility testing;
  • keyboard-only navigation;
  • screen-reader checks;
  • color-contrast review;
  • browser zoom;
  • mobile-device testing;
  • form and checkout review; and
  • customer feedback.

Automated testing alone cannot identify every accessibility problem. Manual review and feedback from people using assistive technologies are also important.

22. Ongoing Improvements

We intend to improve accessibility by:

  • reviewing new pages before publication;
  • adding alternative text to product images;
  • checking headings and links;
  • improving form labels and error messages;
  • reviewing color contrast;
  • checking keyboard navigation;
  • updating inaccessible documents;
  • reviewing third-party integrations;
  • training relevant content administrators; and
  • considering accessibility when redesigning or updating the website.

Accessibility will be considered an ongoing process rather than a one-time exercise.

23. Requesting an Accessible Format

If information is not available in a format you can use, contact us and tell us:

  • the content you need;
  • the webpage address;
  • the difficulty encountered;
  • your preferred format; and
  • how we should contact you.

Depending on the request, we may provide:

  • plain text;
  • an accessible email;
  • a verbal explanation;
  • a telephone-assisted order;
  • a written product description; or
  • another reasonable format.

We will try to provide the information within a reasonable period.

24. Reporting an Accessibility Problem

If you experience an accessibility problem, please provide:

  • your name and contact information;
  • the webpage or feature involved;
  • a description of the problem;
  • the device and browser used, if known;
  • the assistive technology used, if any; and
  • the assistance or resolution requested.

Send accessibility reports to:

Email: info@thehairboutiquebyfelicity.com
Telephone/WhatsApp: +233 24 417 9402
Alternative telephone: +233 24 657 9971

You are not required to disclose a medical diagnosis or unnecessary sensitive personal information when reporting a barrier.

25. Our Response to Accessibility Feedback

We aim to:

  • Acknowledge an accessibility complaint within five working days;
  • assess the reported barrier;
  • provide immediate alternative assistance where reasonably possible;
  • explain the proposed resolution;
  • correct the barrier within a reasonable period; or
  • Explain why a particular correction cannot immediately be completed.

The time required will depend on the complexity of the problem and whether a third-party provider is involved.

Where a permanent correction will take time, we will try to provide an interim accessible alternative.

26. No Retaliation or Unfair Treatment

A person will not knowingly be denied service, charged an accessibility complaint fee, or treated unfairly merely because that person:

  • has a disability;
  • uses assistive technology;
  • requests reasonable assistance;
  • reports an accessibility problem; or
  • exercises a lawful right.

Normal product, service, payment, and delivery conditions will continue to apply equally.

27. Privacy

Information submitted in connection with an accessibility request will be handled under our Privacy Policy and Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

We will collect only information reasonably necessary to:

  • understand the accessibility problem;
  • provide assistance;
  • communicate with the requester; and
  • improve the website.

Customers should not provide sensitive health information unless it is necessary for the requested assistance.

28. Physical Location and In-Person Assistance

Customers who intend to visit our location should contact us in advance if they require a particular physical-accessibility arrangement.

We will provide information reasonably available about:

  • entry and access;
  • appointment arrangements;
  • customer assistance;
  • collection procedures; and
  • alternative service options.

If a physical barrier cannot immediately be removed, we will try to offer a reasonable alternative, such as assisted collection, delivery, or remote service.

29. Accessibility Complaints and Legal Rights

We encourage customers to contact us first so that we can attempt to resolve an accessibility concern promptly.

Nothing in this statement prevents a person from:

  • exercising a right under Ghanaian law;
  • contacting the National Council on Persons with Disability;
  • contacting another competent public authority;
  • seeking legal advice; or
  • bringing a claim before a court of competent jurisdiction.

This statement does not replace or reduce any legal obligation imposed by the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), or another applicable law.

30. Changes to This Statement

We may update this statement when:

  • Accessibility features change;
  • website technology changes;
  • new limitations are identified;
  • Accessibility testing is completed;
  • Customer feedback is received;
  • Ghanaian law changes; or
  • Accessibility standards are updated.

The revised statement will be published with a new “last updated” date.
